What is F1? How to track single child records of US citizens from USCIS to NVC

F1 is one of the family sponsorship categories that has a long waiting time and often causes confusion when tracking documents.

F1 candidates are single sons or daughters 21 years of age or older of US citizens. This is a Family Preference category so the number of visas is limited by law and applications must track Priority Date through Visa Bulletin.
