WHAT IS A BULLETIN VISA?

The Visa Bulletin is an update from the Department of State on the status of immigrant visa issuance in limited visa groups.

WHAT IS PRIORITY DATE?

Priority Date is one of the most important data of preference category records.

For many petition-based applications, this is the date used to determine the application's position in the visa queue.

Users should save the Priority Date to the exact date.

Don't just write:

“F4 2010.”

Better management is:

F4.

Priority Date: day/month/year.

Country of Chargeability.

Receipt Number.

Approval Date.

WHAT IS FINAL ACTION DATE?

Final Action Dates is one of the two most important tables of Visa Bulletin.

The Department of State stipulates that for a category with a cut-off date, visa numbers are issued to applicants whose Priority Date is earlier than the published date.

The Priority Date of the profile is 10 January 2012.

The Final Action Date of the category is May 15, 2012.

But visa issuance must still meet other application conditions.

This is why the tracker should clearly display the status instead of just giving a number.

WHAT ARE DATES FOR FILING?

Dates for Filing is the second table in the Visa Bulletin.

This table is used to determine when an immigrant visa applicant may begin or continue preparing and submitting the required documents to NVC when applicable conditions are met.

Department of State explains that applicants with a Priority Date earlier than the date in the table may be allowed to assemble and submit required documentation to NVC after receiving instructions from NVC.
