F2A is current but I haven't been DQ yet, can I schedule an interview?
Many F2A applications see that the priority date has appeared on Visa Bulletin, so they think they will soon receive an interview invitation. However, current is only one of the necessary conditions. If your application has not been DQed at NVC, you cannot schedule an interview.
What is DQ?
DQ (Documentarily Qualified) means NVC has checked and confirmed:
DS-260 is complete
Civil documents are complete
Valid I-864 financial records
No more additional requirements
Only when the application reaches DQ status can NVC put it on the waiting list to schedule an interview.
Can current F2A but not yet DQ be scheduled?
The answer is no.
NVC only schedules when:
Priority date is now available
The file was DQ
There is an interview at the Consulate
If DQ status is lacking, the application will continue at the paperwork completion step.
Things to do to get DQ faster
Check CEAC for any additional requirements, especially:
I-864 missing signature
Tax Transcript is unclear
Birth or marriage certificate is not in the correct format
The English translation is not complete
The scanned image is blurry or has missing pages
How long does it take to schedule an interview after DQ?
Waiting time depends on:
Number of F2A documents waiting at the Consulate
Number of interview slots open each month
Visa Bulletin status of that time
Early DQ applications often have an advantage when the priority date is current.
What if Visa Bulletin is pushed back after DQ?
The file still retains DQ status. NVC will save the application and wait for the current priority date to continue scheduling the interview.
What does CaseTracker Auto support?
Track Visa Bulletin F2A automatically
Save the DQ date of the application
Prompt when there are additional requests from NVC
Track USCIS and NVC status in the same app
Conclusion
F2A current does not mean you will be scheduled for an interview immediately. The important condition is that the application must reach DQ status at NVC. Therefore, if the Visa Bulletin is present but the application has not been DQ, you should prioritize completing the DS-260, I-864 and all civil documents to be put on the waiting list for the earliest interview.
