F2A: DS-260 AFTER NVC CHARGES PAID TRANSFER

After the F2A application is created by NVC and the necessary fees have been processed, the visa applicant will enter the stage of completing the DS-260.

DS-260 is an online immigrant visa application.

This is one of the most important steps of the NVC process because the information declared in the DS-260 will be used during application processing and at the interview stage.

Therefore, the DS-260 should not be viewed simply as a form that just needs to be filled out.

The information must be accurate, consistent, and explainable if asked by a consular officer at the interview.

WHEN CAN DS-260 BE STARTED?

Once the relevant fee has been paid and CEAC has updated the appropriate status, the IV Application section will allow the user to start DS-260.

In CEAC, users go to the profile and find the IV Application section.

Here may appear:

START NOW.

The user selects START NOW to start the application.

If the charge is still In Process, the DS-260 may not be open.

Don't constantly log out and back in hoping the form will appear right away.

WHAT IS NEEDED BEFORE COMPLETING THE DS-260?

You should not open DS-260 and search for information while declaring.

It is better to prepare all the data in advance.

Should be available:

Passport.

Birth certificate.

Parent information.

Spouse information.

Children information.

Residential address history.

Learning history.

Employment history.

Military information if available.

US immigration information.

Information on trips abroad.

Information on relatives in the United States.

Information about happening.

Information related to previous immigration records, if any.

Other personal information requested in the form.

WHO IS THE DS-260 FILLED OUT FOR?

Principal Applicant must complete his or her DS-260.

If the application includes eligible derivative applicants, each person must also submit a separate application.

Don't think that only the principal applicant needs to complete the DS-260.

For example:

Wife is principal applicant.

You are a derivative applicant.

If you are both migrating, each person needs to have their respective visa application processed.

WHAT IF YOU HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN?

Children can also be visa applicants.

Adults can assist in providing information to children.

However, the information must accurately reflect the person applying for a visa.

Do not use a parent's information to replace the child's information.

WHERE TO START DS-260?

After logging in to CEAC:

Open profile.

Go to Summary Information.

Find Applicant Information.

Select the corresponding principal applicant or applicant.

In the IV Application section, select START NOW.

The system will open DS-260.

Users can save progress during declaration.

CAN THE DS-260 be filled out more than once?

The DS-260 can be reopened when the form has not been submitted.

CEAC allows you to save entered information and continue later.

This is why you should not attempt to complete the entire DS-260 in one sitting without preparing enough data.

Can be divided into multiple sessions.

But make sure the data has been saved before exiting.

SPECIAL NOTE WHEN FILLING OUT DS-260

CEAC has a mechanism to automatically log out when users leave the form inactive for a period of time.

If the data has not been saved, the information just entered may be lost.

Therefore, you should form the habit of:

Dien.

Check.

Save.

Then move on to another part.

FULL NAME INFORMATION

Name must be declared correctly according to documents and passport.

This is the part where you should not arbitrarily change the spelling just because you want the English name to look better.

If the passport shows the name in a certain way, use the correct information on the passport.

Especially check:

Surname.

Given Name.

Middle Name if available.

Other Names Used if any.

WHAT ARE OTHER NAMES USED?

If the visa applicant has used a different name, a name before marriage or a name used legally at another time, they need to read the question carefully and declare their case correctly.

It should not be ignored just because the passport currently has only one name.

On the contrary, you should not add a nickname that is not your legal name just because you were called by your friends.

DATE OF BIRTH INFORMATION

Date of birth must agree with:

Passport.

Birth certificate.

USCIS records.

Civil documents.
